Crash, bang, do re mi–we are the music department, and we have grown! Jenny Slater is in her thirteenth year here at HBR teaching music to the elementary students, Sarah Sartori is in her nineteenth year teaching the band students in the district, and new this year, Jeri-Ann Day, is starting her career teaching music to our middle and high school students.
At the elementary school we have general music for all grade levels from early childhood through fourth grade. Third and fourth grade students also have the opportunity to join choir, drama, and percussion club during their lunch recess once a week. The choir performs at the Veteran’s Day assembly at the elementary school in November. All students perform in our Spring Sing concerts at the high school in March and April.
At the middle school students have the opportunity to play an instrument in band and jazz band, sing in the choir, and take general music where they may play ukulele, learn about world drumming, or study music composition.
At the high school, we have students learning about the history of rock, playing in the band, and starting second semester they can sing in the choir and join jazz band!
We are so excited to share all of the work that the students will be doing this year. Please join us at the high school for our upcoming performances!
