October 1st - HBRES Staff

 Welcome our new team members!

We are so incredibly grateful to have 6 new teachers at Hinckley-Big Rock Elementary! They are doing an amazing job!  Read below to find out more about them!

Kylie Beatty
Hi, my name is Kylie Beatty and I am a new 4th grade teacher at HBRES! I graduated last year from Aurora University and could not wait to start teaching.  I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I loved playing school with my brother! I love working in a small town and feeling like I am working with family. Everyone is very welcoming and supportive.
Ashlie Fischer

My name is Ashlie Fischer and I am the new K-2 interventionist. Teaching gives me the opportunity to be a lifelong learner which is something I'm passionate about. I also chose education to help our students grow and become their best selves. I love HBR because of the strong community we have around it.

Chania Hamm
Hello! My name is Chania Hamm and I am a first year teacher in third grade. I started here last year as a substitute and fell in love with this community. I chose education as a career because I want to make a difference in the lives of our future leaders. It is very exciting to know that my students still have so much to accomplish in their lives, this is just the start! Being new to this community, I am incredibly thankful to have found HBR. Everyone here has been so welcoming, I already feel like part of the family. The students are also the best! I cannot wait for many years to come at HBR!
Holly Hasselbring
Hi! I am Holly Hasselbring and I am teaching 2nd grade this year! I was born and raised in Sycamore where I live with my family. My husband and I have 3 daughters in 7th, 5th and 3rd grades, and one big dog named Stella. I decided to go back to school to get my degree in elementary education after staying home with my daughters when they were little. I graduated from NIU this spring. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but when I went to college the first time I made some different decisions. I ended up managing restaurants for awhile and ended up as the General Manager for a small chain restaurant called Max and Erma’s. When I had my oldest daughter I had the privilege to stay home with her. When my youngest daughter went to preschool I started working at her preschool as a teacher’s aide. This reignited my love for teaching and led me to the decision to go back to school. Being in Hinckley reminds me of the small town feel that Sycamore had when I was younger. I love that the community is so supportive and that everyone seems to know each other. I am so happy to be here!!!!

Brooke Lavender

Hello!  My name is Brooke Lavender and I am a first year teacher in first grade and a dog mom to a beagle! I love reading and camping. I chose education because I love watching students grow and learn. I also love the sense of family that a school builds. Everyone at HBR has welcomed me with open arms. I have learned so much from my peers already and feel honored to be a part of such an awesome community.
Amber Williams
Hello! My name is Amber Williams and I am so happy to be a part of the amazing group that makes up HBR. I am a first year teacher who graduated from Ball State University in 2020 with a degree in elementary and special education. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to follow in my mom's footsteps and become a teacher. I love working with children and seeing how much they grow. These first few weeks of school have been challenging but also extremely rewarding. I have a great team to work with and I have enjoyed meeting everyone that makes HBR a family.
