As the end of my time at Hinckley-Big Rock High School rapidly approaches, I look back at my year with gratitude and look at my future with excitement. I could easily argue that my senior year has been my best year of high school yet. Even though my schedule is full of AP, honors, and Waubonsee classes, and incredibly stressful at times, I have had so much fun this year. I started my year out with my last ever volleyball season. While it was bittersweet, my volleyball season was such a great time, as I was finally one of the seniors on the team. I got to experience an incredible senior night, one final homecoming game, and I also got to make new friendships with the newer girls on the team, and build my friendships with the girls that I had known for years. I loved every long bus ride home from games, every chipotle run the team took, and every single practice we had because I was just having such a wonderful time. I was also able to participate in my first Little Ten championship volleyball game. Even though we got second place, I am so incredibly proud of my team, and grateful for the experience. I will forever have the best memories of my time on the volleyball team, and will cherish them for many years to come. My final homecoming was another big milestone that I experienced this year. Between the parade, Taste of HBR, soccer game, decorating for the dance, and the dance itself, I was so busy. However, I made sure to soak up every memory, and get lots and lots of pictures. I spent homecoming night dancing with my friends, having a blast all night. Fall turned into winter, and my first semester of my senior year was about to end. I took this time to go on Chilis runs with my friends, watch and cheer at basketball games, and spend time with my family. Although my stressful finals were approaching, I still tried to make the most of my time. After all, it was my last-first semester of senior year, so I figured that I should make it count. Finals came and left, and before I knew it we were back from winter break. All of a sudden, it is April. I spend most of my time with friends, studying at starbucks or talking about prom, for everyone is so excited. I’ve had my dress since February, and I cannot wait to dance with all of my friends again. Also, I graduate in almost one month. The looming date of graduation is terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. I have spent a lot of time recently planning out my future. I plan on attending a four year university, and I have almost narrowed down my decision. However, I know that wherever I go, I will carry every memory of my high school years. I am forever grateful for the time that I have spent at Hinckley-Big Rock. One thing that I have learned is that time flies, so make sure you’re having fun. Make the most of your time because it will go by so very quickly. It feels like just yesterday that I was a freshman on my first day, and here I am graduating in a month. Nevertheless, I know that I will go on to make endless amounts of memories in the future, for I cannot wait to see what my future holds.
