As one HBR’s dedicated STEAM teachers, I am thrilled to announce the launch of our new high school podcasting program! Thanks to a generous grant from the Meta Data Center Community Action Grant and the hard work and dedication of our very own Corey Billips, the study room in our library has been transformed into a podcast studio with professional equipment.
Technology is a passion of mine, as one would witness walking past my STEAM classes at both the elementary and middle school. I’m especially excited for this passion to extend to HBR’s high school students where I look forward to nurturing their creativity, communication, and technical skills while navigating the world of podcasting.
Why Podcasting?
In today’s digital age, communication skills are more important than ever. Our podcasting program aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop their communication abilities while also diving into the fascinating technical aspects of podcasting. From recording and editing to adding sound effects, students will gain hands-on experience that will serve them well in the future.
What to Expect
Students participating in the podcasting program will engage in activities that include:
Content Creation: Students will brainstorm, write, and develop engaging podcast topics that resonate with their interests and the school community.
Technical Skills: They will learn how to use audio recording equipment, editing software, and sound effects to enhance their podcasts, fostering both creativity and technical proficiency.
Communication Development: Through regular practice, students will improve their speaking skills, learn how to effectively convey their messages, and work collaboratively within a team.
Sharing Their Voice: The podcasts created in this program will be shared with the school community, giving students a platform to express their opinions, share stories, and discuss relevant topics.
