New roads ahead: Learning a new career

Hello HBR! My name is Alexis Stewart and I joined the HBR team in May of this year. I work as the Transportation Scheduler/Administrative Assistant in the District Office. We moved to Waterman 2 years ago and are really settling in well. I grew up in Genoa and went to school there K-12. I was a cheerleader for almost 12 years and split my time between park district, school and all star cheer.

My husband Kyle and I got married 7 years ago in St Charles at Pheasant Run, a venue that is sadly no longer there. We have a 7 year old cat named Jax who is very energetic! Family is everything to me and I am very close with my parents and brother.

Growing up I was interested in the medical field and that is where my career started. I was a cadet with the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department through high school and even got to go to calls during the school day! I had many opportunities to work alongside some amazing Paramedics and Firefighters. I even got to fight some fires with them! After high school I pursued my EMT-B and Phlebotomy licenses both of which I still hold today. After an unfortunate injury I had to take a step back from that and pursue other things. I have since done some physical therapy and medical assisting but always felt a school setting was where I belonged in my career. I am very excited for this opportunity and am very eager to see where it takes me.

I look forward to continuing to learn my role and helping the transportation team succeed!
