News from the HBRES Student Council
We have an awesome group of students that make up our 4th and 5th grade Student Council this year! We had our first outing before Christmas and made a trip to Prairie Pointe Assisted Living Memory Care in Sugar Grove. We practiced Christmas carols and were able to provide the residents with some holiday cheer! I’m pretty sure our students loved it just as much as the residents did! Please read below to hear about their experiences!
Being in student council is fun because I get to learn about different jobs and responsibilities like being a treasurer. I had so much fun singing carols at the retirement home for the seniors of our community too! - Wyatt Sargent
I love how I got to sing some songs that are my favorite for other people. I felt happy because the residents were enjoying our songs. We got to talk to the people and they gave us cookies and candy. The cookies and candy were super good. I loved the nursing home and I loved the experience. It feels good to make other people feel great and happy.- Graham Lang
The nursing home was so much fun and made my day. It's not everyday that the people there get company. So I took it as a learning experience to go out and sing for passion. I might not be the best singer but I did try to talk to everyone and have a very Merry Christmas. I still take going to that nursing home as a privilege and I am so very thankful to go. I know that going there didn’t just make my day it made theirs too!- Brylee Brockway
What was fun and cool about the nursing home was singing for them and also mingling and saying Merry Christmas and stuff like that. We also talked to a lot of the residents and that was great! We also got cookies there and we had a very very fun experience! I would love to do it again and I love spreading kindness.- Emma Cameron
