Last week Hinckley-Big Rock Middle School brought together a diverse group of experts, ranging from local entrepreneurs and HBR alumni to industry veterans. The event focuses on career exposure and the intentional development of soft skills. This day is a powerful reminder that the journey toward a fulfilling career is rarely a straight line, but rather a collection of experiences, passions, and a willingness to learn from those who have already paved the way.
Students explored a variety of industries, such as:
software engineers
landscape architects
agricultural literacy
law enforcement
judicial system
carpentry
electrical work
automotive technology
Farming
Auctioneer
Teacher
Bus Driver
Entrepreneur
Martial Arts Instructor

Perhaps the most impactful element of the day was the presence of HBR Alumni returning to their roots. Seeing former students who once sat in these same desks return as successful business owners and community leaders provided current students with inspiration. These mentors serve as living proof that the foundation laid at Hinckley-Big Rock can lead to anything from a role at a global corporation to the launch of a successful local startup. As students left for the weekend, they carried a clearer vision of their own future. HBR Middle School remains committed to fostering these connections, ensuring our students are not just ready for high school, but truly ready for life.
