HBR Middle School is preparing for our annual Career Day coming up on February 27th. We are still in need of presenters, so if you are interested in learning more about the event, please reach out to me, Kim Torman, at ktorman@hbr429.org.
Our focus of this event is to help our students to develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in high school, college/career, and beyond. In addition to academic learning, two often-overlooked areas play a vital role in a student's overall development: soft skills and career exposure.
Soft skills are personal attributes that enable individuals to interact effectively with others. These skills include: Communication, collaboration, problem-solving, critical thinking and adaptability.
These skills are essential not only for academic success but also for navigating social situations, building relationships, and thriving in the workplace.
Along with soft skills, career exposure helps students discover their interests and passions, which will lead to them making informed decisions about their future. As students develop a sense of purpose and direction, they will have an increased motivation and engagement in school.
Introducing soft skills and career exposure in middle school offers numerous advantages, such as:
Enhanced academic performance
Improved social and emotional well-being
Increased self-confidence and self-esteem
Greater preparedness for high school, college, and/or the workforce
We hope you consider participating in this engaging event at HBRMS on February 27th. We have about 25 presenters signed up and would love 5-10 more!
