Meet Mr. Novotny
Hi, I am Daniel Novotny and I am a Physical Education Teacher at HBRMS. I just graduated from Illinois State University in May where I was a Manager for the Men’s Basketball team for all four years I was there. That experience taught me so many things and helped me to become the person I am in the classroom as well as the type of coach I am on the sidelines. Being a first year teacher I could not imagine being at a school/district as great as this one! The staff all around has been so helpful and supportive in getting me comfortable into this role. The students have welcomed me from day one as they sang Happy Birthday to me on the first day of school. It has been a blast getting to know them and teaching them in PE! I was also given the opportunity to coach the Freshman Volleyball team at the high school. The team at all three levels was so much fun to work with as we were learning more and more about the sport together each day. I am very much looking forward to the other teams I get the opportunity to coach throughout this school year!
As well as coaching I am also one of the Middle School sponsors for the Student Council. We are just getting the ball rolling on that and will have some pretty awesome spirit days coming soon! I cannot wait to see what fun is going to happen the rest of this school year!
This past Wednesday, with help from the Renaissance Club at the high school, we put on our second school dance with this theme being Halloween. So many students showed up and the costumes were amazing!
We could see the time and effort being placed into each and every costume as they were walking through the door on Wednesday night! We had a costume contest and I would like to congratulate the winners of the contest! There were so many deserving costumes and I was amazed the entire night.

Funniest Costume- Inflatable Sumo Wrestler (Judd Bark)
Most Creative Costume- Gumball Machine (Haily Jang)
Scariest Costume- Clown (Lofton Atkins)
