Proud to be a Royal
As my final week of being a Royal is wrapping up I have begun to think about all the memories I have made in the halls here at HBR. I’ve thought about all the friendships I have forged along my four year journey, friendships that will never be broken. I have thought about everything that I have accomplished and how I couldn’t have done it without the support from family, friends, and faculty members. I have so much respect for this school and all that it has accomplished in its history. My love for the blue and white has never faded, and I take immense pride in being able to call myself a Royal.

If there was one thing I could tell incoming freshmen or current high school students is to get involved. So many people from friends to aunts and uncles have told me that high school is some of the best four years of your life. I feel as though many people don’t come to realize this statement is true until it’s too late. It’s better to push away your shyness and get involved than sit on the side line and watch others do great things. Whether it’s joining a club or playing a sport I promise that you won’t regret it. It is so important to find something you’re passionate about. It is also really important to give it your all. If that’s academically, in a sport, or in a club you should be giving it 100%, and if you do this I promise you will reap the benefits.
Going to such a small school allows underclassmen to get the chance to make new friends with upperclassmen and vice versa, so take advantage of that and try new things and make new friends. The people you surround yourself with are the ones that make your high school experience so special.
This school year has truly been like no other due to the limitations from the recent pandemic. Even with all the changes from going in person to remote then back to in person we have learned to change and adapt from one week to the next. Nothing this year was normal. But as a student I feel as though my teachers and fellow peers did everything in their power to make this year seem as though it was normal, and I am beyond thankful for that.
