Students at HBRES speak out about the
start of the 2020-2021 school year
It’s what we have all been waiting for! We want to know from the students, “What’s it like coming back together after 5 months and with all the changes?” Well, wait no more! HBRES students tell us how coming back to school has been for them.
Andie Sellers - Kindergarten |
“I like school. I got to color and stuff. Sometimes it is hard to get the straps on my mask, but I wear it because I have to when I am in buildings but not at my house. I like school a lot but I’m not sure what is the most exciting part because it’s only the third day!”
Dylan Jarvis - 1st grade |
“I was excited to come back to school because I missed my friends. I’m glad I am at school because I like my teacher and I got to see everybody. The things we have to do different have been okay. By the second day, I didn’t even feel that my mask was on my face. I was only wondering if the kids in the other class get to have gym in the afternoon.”
Edgar Martinez - 2nd grade |
“I am so excited for the new school year. I do like my new teacher and I’m fine with wearing a mask all day, it does not bug me one bit. Although its hard to have to stay away from my friends I would rather be here. I am loving the new programs on my Chromebook.”
Aurora Wagner - 3rd grade |
"It was really really good to start school. I’ve been seeing some friends over summer and I got a cat for my birthday and she’s so cute! I don’t like school I LOVE School and it’s amazing! I am kinda sad because I want to see ALL my friends and sometimes it’s hard to stay 6 feet apart. Mrs. Claypool is really funny and she’s so nice. I would be really happy to go to school all day! If corona wasn’t real then we could see our best friends again and wouldn’t have to be 6 feet apart. I am so angry about this corona and I don’t want it to be real. It makes me so mad. I think HBR is amazing and I LOVE it."
Emma Cameron-Hughes - 4th grade |
“I really like it and I love getting back into the school schedule and learning things. I want to start math really bad and I miss it. One of the hard things for me is don’t get to see a lot of my friends since we don’t have P.E. and lunch. I will take not seeing my friends to be able to want to be able to be at school and learn. I am most looking forward to the day that we can all come back together. I am so glad to have Mrs. Crawford as my teacher and it’s really neat to have 4th and 5th graders in my class to meet new friends.”
Caden Walsh - 5th grade |
"It’s been a very different year, you know with the Corona Virus and only being in school for ½ days, but I’m grateful to go to school every day. I love being the top dog of the school this year. The desks are spread apart but I still get to do work. I’m glad I live in a small district and we were able to figure out a plan to come each day."
Well, there you have it, straight from the students' perspective at HBRES. The 2020-2021 school year is off to a great start with the anticipation of another wonderful school year!
