October 11th - HBRHS Teacher

I have been working in the school district the past two years as the varsity boys basketball coach.  Whenever someone asks what I do, I am always excited to say that I coach for HBR! It always brings a respect and understanding as people know how well HBR athletics have done throughout the years and how supportive the community is.  It has been a privilege to represent the community in this way. Over the summer, I was able to expand my roles in two ways: as the Algebra I and Algebra II teacher at the high school and as the high school cross country coach.

Teaching allows me to interact with a wide variety of students across multiple ages.  It amazes me to see the range of talents, personalities, and hobbies one school can have.  Homecoming was a great example of this. Student council, faculty, and various clubs worked very hard to create a fun atmosphere to allow students to show off their personality and highlight their extra-curricular successes!

Four brave students came forward last spring and asked to restart the cross country team.

Needless to say, it has been a learning experience for the runners, parents, and coach included!  During the past two months, it has been humbling to see how hard the kids have worked and how much they have learned. They have been able to consistently lower their race times, while running through rain, mud, and (very limited) sunshine.  I can’t wait to see how well these four runners do as they continue.

I'm very grateful for the way my perspective has changed and grown over the first two months of the school year.  HBR is a great place to work!
